Letter G and Mother Goose

Do You have a favorite Mother Goose Rhyme?

Toys: Train set, wooden blocks, Lincoln Logs, and Play Kitchen and Play Food.

Snack: Dried apple slices and Animal Crackers

Today we had fun reading more Mother Goose Rhymes. Several of the students claim they have never heard of Mother Goose and her Rhymes. A couple of students have the same Mother Goose Rhyme book as we have at home.  Mother Goose Rhymes help with reading because students are introduced to rhyming, a pre-reading skill.

We each took a mother goose rhyme that we read with Miss Jessica to the class.

Then we learned that some you sing or dance to! We loved playing the games "Ring around the Rosie" and "London Bridge" as we sang the songs.

We learned more about the letter "G." We listened to the song about the goose who giggles in the garden by saying "g...g...g."

The children came up with a huge list of words that start with G. Goose, goat, grass, Grant, Grandma, Grandpa, and grapes are just a few of the words they mentioned.

After recess and snack we learned how to graph by graphing the Goose's gumdrops. Each child choose a gumdrop out of the bag, told everyone the color, and then we colored the corresponding square on our paper. We learned the words "most" and "least."
