Do you like apples or
lollipops?
Welcome Luke Meeker!
We are so happy to have this cheerful little guy join our class! (He will be four years old this coming Monday.) Luke is the youngest of six children. He has two older sisters and three older brothers. His dad does I.T. and his mom stays at home and bakes wonderful bread and plays the french horn. He told us his favorite color is red, just like Tanner!
Toys: Red, Yellow, and Blue Puzzles, Potato Heads, and the Train Table. (New) Duplo bldg blocks
Snacks: Carrots and Ritz crackers
Songs:
5 Little Ducks
Once There Was a Snowman!
Circle Time Alphabet Discussion:
We read the book Chika Chika Boom Boom and watched a recorded version of it. This story is about all of the letters trying to climb a Cocunut Tree (and falling out!) It is a fun review of the alphabet.
While
reviewing the alphabet, we talked about the copycat
C and how C and K sound the same. We talked
about how when c and k walk together c always
comes before k so that k does not kick c! Our examples were chick and chicken
(Rick, thick, Mick, lick, etc.)!
We sang the alphabet song while pointing to the correct letters on the wall. Then, Ms. Jessica said a letter and if the child had that letter in his or her name, they stood up. It was fun to see whose names had similar letters.

Recess: We had an indoor recess today. We played like we were in the snow. We had a class snowball fight, went on a sledding ride, made snow angels, etc.
Snow Section:
We sang Once There Was A Snowman several times. We worked on opposites, such as singing loud and then soft, or fast and then slow.
We then read One Snowy Day. After the story, each child got a picture of an event that happened in the story. We read the book again and this time, when they saw their event happening, they laid down their picture. It is a good way to start teaching sequencing (this happens, then this happens, then this, etc)
Gluing Q-tips on paper to look like snowflakes (once again, they had fun being creative with their snowflakes)
Song: 5 Little Ducks
5 Little Ducks went out to play
Over the hills and far away
When Mama Duck said "Quack Quack Quack"
4 Little Ducks came waddling back
(Repeat song until no ducks come back and then say:)
But when Daddy Duck said "QUACK QUACK QUACK"
5 Little Ducks came waddling back
